  • 1 liter of water


  • Pour flaxseed and water in a pot.
  • Boil on medium heat for about 5 minutes with the lid covered.
  • Once the water starts to boil, simmer for 20 minutes.
  • Uncover the lid and let cool the flaxseed gel.
  • Pour the flaxseed gel over a strainer to strain out the flaxseed.
  • Apply the cooled gel to the scalp and hair. Leave on for 30-60 minutes.
  • Rinse, shampoo, condition, and style as usual.

Note: There’s no need to shampoo before applying the gel. You can apply the gel directly to your dry hair. However, if your hair is dirty or have a lot of hair products, you can shampoo before applying so the gel can penetrate your hair better.

Flaxseed gel can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 14 days. I store my flaxseed gel in an airtight container in the fridge. I usually use it up within 7 days as I wash my hair every 3 days.
