We have 6 storage bins now and they fit and look nice inside Baby W’s closet.

If you are leaving your baby’s toys outside for easy access, you can store them in bins with lids to avoid dust.

To organize smaller toys that are easy to get lost, such as puzzle pieces, we heavily rely on freezer bags.

By separating different toys, you can teach your baby how to clean up after moving on to the next set of toys when he gets older.

If you’re like me, the thought of traveling with a toddler makes your skin crawl. It seems like every trip is a battle between entertaining them and keeping them from disturbing other passengers. But with the right airplane activities for toddlers, you can make your travel experience much less miserable.

I’ve always loved traveling and I’m not letting having kids hold us back from exploring the world. Before Baby W turned 3, we managed to fly across 3 different countries including a 2-weeks vacation in Asia – that’s about 80 hours total on flights around this great planet of ours (not to mention countless hours waiting to be boarded)!

I’ve put together a list of our favorite activities that will keep your little one busy and happy during your trip.

So don’t pack any extra stress along with your bags – just let your toddler have fun with these activities and enjoy your trip!

What To Look For In Airplane Activities For Toddlers?

When choosing activities to do on the plane, look out for these features:

Weight and Size

We don’t want to carry around anything unnecessary other than our luggages, so the lighter it gets for us as passengers-the better! Bring something that’s lightweight and compact such as coloring pages and lego pieces.

Concentration and sensory-driven

Activities that require concentration or sensory perception will help toddlers stay engaged and distracted from the airplane surroundings.

Air travel with young kids is stressful enough so to make the experience more pleasant for everyone involved, it is helpful to plan ahead and pack some “mess-free” activities for toddlers. When traveling with my toddlers, I also bring along books from our bedtime collection. Since they’re so used to reading these books right before they go down for the night, reading these books on the plane will signal them that it’s time for bed.

The Going to Bed Book by Sandra Boyton is a short and silly board book. This little book even fits in my purse! Madi’s favorite is the Good Morning, Good Night! book by Tresa Imperato because she gets to feel the soft, fluffy fur of each animal in the story.

What comes in a Koala crate? The magic inside the box

The activities that come in the crates monthly have different themes.

The materials for the crafts, an instructions guide, and a bonus magazine are all perfectly packed in each crate.

Materials needed for 3 activities

Materials that come inside the crate will be used to make 3 different activities within the same theme. For example, the crate we received on glowing creatures will have materials that will make a jellyfish, a glowing mushroom, and a firefly.

What’s so clever about KiwiCo is that some of the materials will be shared between the activities. The glowing stickers will be used on the jellyfish and a glowing mushroom in this example.

Everything is very kid-friendly in that there’s nothing rough, sharp, or toxic. Each piece is big enough for the little hands to maneuver but small enough for some fine motor practice.

Illustrated instructions guide

The step-by-step instructions guide is extremely easy to follow. The illustrated steps are very detailed and cute. My toddler can follow most of the instructions just by looking at the illustrations.

Each step also has a detailed explanation for us adults to follow. The instructions guide also tells you creative ways on how to play with the finished toys.

What I love about the instructions guide is that it provides a summary of how messy each project is and how much grownup involvement is needed. I can choose which activity to work on depending on how much time we have and if I’m up for cleaning up later.

Imagine! magazine

Imagine! is a mini-educational magazine that is filled with engaging stories and games.

This little booklet expands upon the theme by including photos, games, stories, and more projects.

We’ve learned so much about the rainforest, for example, by reading the stories and facts from the magazine. These magazines we’ve accrued over the months have become part of our book collection now!

Koala crate pros and cons

All of the projects are designed to spark creativity, tinkering, and learning. It is evident that lots of research and thought have been put into designing these crates by KiwiCo.

Throughout the process of creating, my toddler is exposed to new materials, tools, and concepts.

Since the materials are very high-quality, he still plays with the toys he created month after months.

As for drawbacks, I honestly can’t think of anything I don’t like about these koalas crates.

If I were to name one thing, I would say it’s the price.

Sure, these materials probably don’t cost $20 if you were to curate at your craft supply store.

But for a busy mama like myself, it is worth it for me to spend that extra dollar to have everything delivered to my doorstep.

Koala crate examples

The Rainbow-themed crate is the very first crate we received. My toddler immediately picked up the colorful felt rainbow stickers and started making his own rainbow cloud pillow. He was able to complete this activity with very little guidance from me.

All I did was to help him stuff the fibers and perfectly lined up the velcro closure at the bottom of the pillow.

This activity is really good for fine motor development as my toddler places the rainbow stickers on top of each other.

The second thing we made was the rainbow tote bag.

This is such a creative activity that exposed my toddler to color-mixing by designing and dyeing a rainbow tote bag. Colorful papers are placed on the white tote bag. And with dabs of water, the colors are transferred to the tote bag creating a tide-dyed effect!

Within this crate, we also created a stained glass landscape using colorful squares and cut-out shapes of mountains and trees. Through creating toys from this crate and reading the accompanying magazine, we discovered how rainbows are formed and learned all the colors in the rainbow.

In this bioluminescence crate, we made a firefly, glowing mushroom and jelly fish.

All of these creatures light up after dark!

In this insects crate, we’ve made a bug dress-up, a ladybug pouch with a mini kaleidoscope, and an insects matching game.

My toddler loves to dress up in his bug costume and we’ve received so many compliments playing in the park with it!

Our latest crate – reptiles!

This is the snake we made. Included in this month’s crate are a plushy snake, a turtle treasure box, and a chameleon.

How do you make a homemade baby milk bath

Gather your supplies

Milk bath tub for baby

Any bathtub that is big enough will do. When I filmed this milk bath, Madi is already a 2-year-old toddler so I had to find a deeper tub for her (we don’t want to show our kiddo’s private parts @@).

This collapsible basket fits all the requirements! It’s sturdy and deep enough, and I can use it for other purposes.

A King-sized flat sheet

Unless you have a picture-worthy bathtub, covering your bathtub with a flat sheet makes a great foundation for your photography session.

Milk

I used whole milk, but you can use whatever milk you like such as coconut and almond milk. Whole milk is my best choice because it’s denser and whiter.

To make the best pampering soak, you can experiment with other types of milk too. Coconut milk is moisturizing and anti-inflammatory, while almond milk soothes the skin.

Bath soak for extra moisturizing power

Adding bath soak is optional but highly recommended. Your baby will be bathing already so why not make it an extra pampering experience.

Baby Madi has eczema and a soak of Cocosoak provid the much-needed relief. This all organic bath soak is designed to hydrate and treat irritated skin while also providing a protective barrier to prevent irritation and inflammation.
There’s no filler, or anything to just “smell nice”. This magic soak only contains the best, purest ingredients like coconut oil and colloidal oats.

Florals, greeneries, and fruits

I wanted to create a pink floral DIY baby milk bath session, so I opted for flowers and leaves. I bought a bunch of seasonal flower and realized that it’s not enough so I supplemented with some faux flowers.

I’d say if you’re going after a floral themed milk bath, get at least 3 bunches of flowers and greeneris. Fresh flowers from your organic garden is always the best. But if you need to purchase them at the store, be sure to rinse first to get rid of pesticides.

Depending on the season, you can get creative on the baby milk bath theme too.

Have fun with baby milk bath time during the summer months by using citrus fruits like oranges, lemons or berries. Add in some fall flavors like mini pumpkins and gourds to make it more cozy. If you want winter vibes try holly stems along side pines which will create that perfect holiday feel!

Step by step instructions for DIY baby milk bath

1. Safety first

When you’re planning on doing a DIY baby milk bath session at home, it’s important to be careful and take all the necessary precautions. First of all, make sure that the water is not too hot. You don’t want to risk scalding your little one. Also, always be next to baby when they’re in the tub. This way you can prevent any accidental drowning. And finally, be very careful when placing baby in and out of the bathtub. The floor might get wet and slippery, so take extra care not to slip or fall.

2. Place the bath tub in the middle of the room

You’ll be taking pictures from many angles so placing the bath tub in the middle of the room will avoid capturing things you dont want.

3. Drape the flat sheet over the bath tub

Press the flat sheet down in the middle of the tub. You’ll want to create space for the water and milk when you pour into the tub. Be sure to stretch out the flat sheet outside of the tub.

4. Pour in water and milk

Fill 3/4 of the tub with luke warm water. The water can be slighly warmer as you’ll be adding in cold milk later. Now, add enough milk water until the desired milky color.

5. Decorate with fresh flowers, leaves, or fruits

You can put your baby in the milk bath before you drop in the decorations or after. I put Madi in her bath first becasue I want her to have fun watching me drop in the flowers (hey, you know how hard it is to snap a picture of a toddler smiling ) Oh, and don’t forget to leave a few pieces outside of the tub!

6. Take lots of pictures

Here comes the fun part! Get creative with your angles- try shooting from above, or at different depths. Be sure to capture baby’s expressions as they experience their milk bath! You can have small toys on hand to help keep your baby entertained during the shoot too.

]]> For many kids, learning how to ride a kick scooter is a rite of passage. It’s a great way for them to get outside and get some exercise, and once they’ve mastered the basics, they’ll be zipping around the neighborhood in no time.

At age 5, little W was just getting started to ride a scooter. We are ecstatic when we received the McLaren scooter for him to try out. He was so excited to hop onto his new McLaren and finally feel just as good about himself too.

We were so excited to see how much he had learned in just one day. My son struggled a bit at first, but after an afternoon of practice, we saw that his riding skills have improved greatly!

Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to teach your child to ride a kick scooter.

Demonstrate how to ride a kick scooter yourself

First, demonstrate how to ride the kick scooter yourself. This will help your child understand what they need to do and give them a better sense of how the scooter works. Alternatively, you can have your child observe how his friends are riding or even show him video clips of how other kids ride scooters.

Make sure the bar handles are at the right height

Make sure the handlebars are at the correct height for your child. If they’re too low or too high, it will be difficult for your child to maintain balance.

For beginners, the bar handles should be closer to waist height.

Have all safety gear in place

I’m not the type of parent who lets their child wear all sorts of pads for every riding adventure. But at least I make sure they wear a helmet at all times – this is non-negotiable! Accidents happen, so it’s always better to be safe than sorry. Don’t forget that it’s super important that helmets should fit properly. ​

Determine your child’s dominant foot

Determine which foot is your child’s dominant foot. This will be the foot that they use to push off with when they start riding.

To figure out which foot is dominant, have your child stand on the scooter with both feet. Then, ask them to push off with one foot. If they can do it easily, then that’s their dominant foot. If they have trouble pushing off, or if they keep falling over, then that’s probably not their dominant foot. Once you know which foot is dominant, you can help your child get started on riding their scooter

Practice balancing on the scooter

Once you’ve gone over the basics with your child, it’s time to let them give it a try themselves. While holding your child’s scooter, have your child place one foot on the scooter and slowly raise the other (dominant foot) off the ground.

Once your child gets the hang of balancing on the scooter, step aside and repeat this step without your holding the scooter for them.

Practice balancing on the scooter was a tough one for W. So, don’t get discouraged if your child can’t balance on the first try.

Push off the ground

When your child is ready, have them start by pushing off with their dominant foot while keeping their other foot on the ground for stability. Encourage them to keep their weight centered over the scooter as they travel. Allow your child to feel how the scooter moves while they stay balanced

Get scooting

Once they’ve gotten comfortable with pushing off and balancing, it’s time to start scooting!

For the first few trials, have your child push off short so that you’ll able to stop the scooter yourself if needed. You can stand a short distance in front of them and have them ride to you. Or, you can ride the scooter with them side by side as your child becomes better at riding.

Teach your child how to use the brake

Instruct your child that he can push down on the brake with his dominant foot. Stand a short distance in front of them and have them practice scooting and using the brake.

Give lots of praise and encouragement

As your child continues practicing, make sure to praise their progress and offer words of encouragement along the way. They’ll likely get frustrated at times, but if you stick with it, they’ll be zipping around like a pro in no time!

In addition to giving verbal praise, you can also offer rewards for milestones like riding for a certain distance or duration without stopping or falling off. This will help keep your child motivated as they learn.

Avoid overloading dressers and closets with too much stuff. Instead, focus on storing items that are used regularly in easy-to-reach places. seasonal clothing and out-of-season items can be stored in bins or boxes in the basement or attic.

This kid’s toy organizer is a must for every organized kid’s room. we used to have toys in different corners of the room, in their closet, and on the floor. Each drawer can easily fit 2000+ lego pieces. When it’s time to pack up the building blocks, just take them away to the drawers.

The tabletop can be converted to a smooth surface table and you can literally store anything (art supplies, books, toys, etc.) in the spacious drawers, not just legos!

This stylish bookshelf is the latest addition to our kids’ room and I couldn’t be happier with the purchase. First of all, it’s from Ikea, so very budget-friendly. Secondly, there is an endless way to organize this bookshelf. We opted for the top shelves to store all of the children’s books and the bottom selves to store chunky toys.

These fabric storage bins complement the bookshelf perfectly. The storage baskets are topped with a sturdy metal bar frame to keep the basket in shape. It’s pretty heavy-duty and makes clean-up easy for the kids.

Make use of vertical space

Another great way to organize your child’s room is to make use of vertical space. This means hanging things up instead of letting them pile up on the floor. You can use hooks to hang coats, backpacks, and other items. You can also use shelves to store books, toys, and other belongings.
